Schedule I Police Evasion Guide: Complete Escape Strategies

The police in Schedule I are a constant threat that scales with your criminal activities. Understanding wanted levels, police behaviors, and evasion techniques is essential for long-term survival.

Wanted Level System

Level Name Police Behavior Escape Reward
Investigating Investigation Officers dispatched to investigate reports None
Body Search Search Checkpoint stops, pat-downs None
Under Arrest Arrest Officers attempt to handcuff you 20 XP
Wanted Wanted Tasers deployed, aggressive pursuit 40 XP
Wanted Dead or Alive Dead or Alive Lethal force authorized, firearms used 60 XP

What Triggers Wanted Levels

Immediate Triggers

  • Being seen during curfew (10pm-4am)
  • Conducting drug deals in public view
  • Attacking or killing NPCs
  • Failing to stop at police checkpoints
  • Resisting arrest
  • Attacking or killing police officers
  • Pointing a weapon at police

Escalation Triggers

  • Resisting arrest for extended periods: Arrest → Wanted
  • Attacking police: Wanted → Dead or Alive
  • Killing an officer: Immediately Dead or Alive

Basic Evasion Techniques

1. Distance and Line of Sight

The simplest method: run until the police lose sight of you. The wanted bar begins to fade when no officers can see you. Once fully faded, the pursuit ends.

2. Property Hideout

After breaking line of sight, enter any property you own. Police cannot enter player properties. This is the most reliable early-game evasion method.

3. Vehicle Hiding

Park your vehicle and remain inside. Police rarely check vehicle interiors. The wanted bar decreases while you sit in the car. This is particularly effective in isolated parking areas.

4. Trash Cans

Hide in dumpsters for massive wanted bar reduction. Highly effective if police don't see you enter. If spotted entering, the dumpster provides no protection.

5. Bushes and Tall Grass

Similar to dumpsters, hiding behind bushes or in tall grass reduces the wanted bar. Less effective than dumpsters but more readily available.

Advanced Evasion Techniques

6. Terrain Exploitation

Police pathfinding is poor. Use obstacles, fences, and elevation changes to break pursuit. Jumping over objects that police must path around creates significant distance.

7. Effect Potions

Certain drug mixes provide movement bonuses:

  • Energetic: Increased sprint speed
  • Athletic: Enhanced mobility
  • Anti-Gravity: Jump onto rooftops for escape

The Anti-Gravity mix (Granddaddy Purple + Energy Drink + Acetaminophen) lets you access rooftops that police cannot reach.

8. Parking Garage Ramp Trap

Police cannot jump off the Brad Crosby parking garage ramp. Lure them to the ramp, then jump down. They'll be stuck above while you escape below.

9. Evidence Dumping

If stopped for a search, quickly throw all illegal items into bushes or alleys before the officer reaches you. Police only check what you're currently carrying.

10. Distance Facing Trick

Looking away from distant police may reduce detection chance (possible bug, but consistently useful). Face away from officers when at maximum detection range.

Violent Evasion Methods

11. Eliminate All Pursuers

Each police vehicle contains one officer. Eliminating all officers in the area ends the immediate pursuit. Note: this immediately escalates to "Dead or Alive."

12. Melee Combat Technique

Charge attack → approach and release → immediately backstep. If the officer draws their weapon, backstep further. Repeat until all officers are down.

Police Station Blocking

Park a vehicle directly in front of the police station entrance in the morning. This blocks officers from exiting for patrols. Be warned: officers can still shoot, tase, and arrest nearby players.

Wanted Level De-escalation

After attacking an officer triggers "Dead or Alive," nearby NPCs may report the crime. Once their report completes, the wanted level drops to "Investigating," and officers stop using lethal force. Use this window to escape.

Police Difficulty Scaling

Police presence increases as you rank up:

  • Early ranks: Few patrols, minimal checkpoints
  • Mid ranks: More frequent patrols, first police SUVs
  • Late ranks: Heavy checkpoints with barriers, maximum patrol density

Plan your operations for the current police presence level. Early players can be more brazen; late-game players need meticulous planning.

Weapons for Police Encounters

Weapon Price Lethal Damage Rank Required
Baseball Bat $50 No - Street Rat I
Frying Pan $100 No - Street Rat I
Machete $250 Yes - Peddler III
Revolver $1,000 Yes - Hustler I
M1911 $2,500 Yes - Enforcer I
Golden M1911 $25,000 Yes - None
Pump Shotgun $7,500 Yes - Block Boss I

Critical Warning: Never use vehicles to hit police. This immediately triggers "Dead or Alive."

Evasion Checklist

Before any high-risk activity:

  • Identify nearest owned property for emergency hideout
  • Locate nearest dumpster or hiding bush
  • Ensure vehicle is nearby and fueled (vehicles don't need fuel, but confirm it's accessible)
  • Know the route to your safe house
  • Carry at least one movement-boosting drug mix (optional)
  • Avoid operations near police stations during shift changes

Staying free in Hyland Point requires constant vigilance. Master these evasion techniques and the police become an inconvenience rather than an empire-ending threat.
