R.E.P.O. Map & Locations Guide

Understanding the map and each location's unique layout is critical to survival in R.E.P.O. This guide covers all four explorable areas, their hazards, and optimal loot routes.

How the Map Works

Press TAB to open your map. The arrow shows your position and facing direction. Key markers include:

Marker Meaning
Yellow dots Valuables (small = small item, large = big item)
Red dots Player heads from downed teammates
Blue dots Shop items (including the C.A.R.T.)
Blue square Active extraction point
Orange square Inactive extraction point
Red square Completed extraction
Black area with ? Unexplored rooms

Pro Tip: Purchase the Map Player Upgrade to see how many players are alive at any moment.

Location 1: Headman Manor

The classic haunted mansion. Tight corridors, multiple floors, and hidden rooms behind breakable walls.

  • Best for: Beginners learning monster patterns
  • Hazards: Lots of narrow hallways where monsters can corner you
  • Loot density: Medium - valuables spawn in bedrooms, kitchen, and attic
  • Extraction points: Usually 2-3, often in the foyer and garage

Key Rooms

  • Master Bedroom: High-value items like jewelry and paintings often spawn here
  • Kitchen: Good for small but valuable items (silverware, figurines)
  • Attic: Large items like pianos and sculptures - bring friends to help carry
  • Basement: Dark and dangerous, but contains some of the highest-value loot

Location 2: McJannek Station

A sci-fi themed train station with open platforms, maintenance tunnels, and control rooms.

  • Best for: Teams practicing communication and coordination
  • Hazards: Long sightlines mean monsters can see you from far away
  • Loot density: High - valuables scattered across platforms and in train cars
  • Extraction points: Usually at the main platform and maintenance bay

Key Areas

  • Train Cars: Confined spaces good for looting but dangerous for escapes
  • Control Room: Often contains electronic valuables with moderate weight
  • Maintenance Tunnels: Dark corridors with hidden caches
  • Waiting Hall: Large open space with multiple exit routes

Location 3: Museum of Human Art

A macabre art museum with wide galleries, sculpture halls, and creepy exhibits.

  • Best for: Experienced players looking for high-value hauls
  • Hazards: Wide open spaces make it hard to hide from monsters
  • Loot density: Very High - art pieces are some of the most valuable items in the game
  • Extraction points: Usually at the main entrance and loading dock

Key Galleries

  • Sculpture Hall: Massive sculptures worth $10,000+ but require 2-3 players to carry
  • Painting Gallery: Medium-weight paintings worth $5,000-$8,000
  • Exhibit Rooms: Mixed loot spawns, good for quick runs
  • Gift Shop: Surprisingly valuable - small items that add up quickly

Location 4: Swiftbroom Academy

A magical school setting with classrooms, dormitories, and a mysterious library.

  • Best for: High-risk, high-reward runs
  • Hazards: Multi-level layout with falling hazards and confusing staircases
  • Loot density: High - magical artifacts and books are very valuable
  • Extraction points: Usually at the main hall and courtyard

Key Areas

  • Library: Books are lightweight but valuable - perfect for solo players
  • Dormitories: Personal items and small valuables in each room
  • Classrooms: Mixed spawns, check teacher desks for hidden items
  • Headmaster's Office: Usually contains the highest-value single item in the level

Location Loot Value Comparison

Location Avg Value/Run Difficulty Recommended Team Size
Headman Manor $15,000-$25,000 Easy 2-4 players
McJannek Station $20,000-$35,000 Medium 3-5 players
Museum of Human Art $30,000-$50,000 Hard 4-6 players
Swiftbroom Academy $25,000-$40,000 Hard 3-5 players

Optimal Loot Route Strategy

Phase 1: Scout (First 3 minutes)

  • Split into 2 teams of 2-3 players
  • Team A checks upper floors/left wing, Team B checks lower floors/right wing
  • Mark high-value items on the map by looking at them briefly
  • Do NOT carry anything yet - just identify targets

Phase 2: Prioritize (Next 2 minutes)

  • Regroup and share findings
  • Prioritize items by value-to-weight ratio
  • Plan the most efficient extraction route
  • Assign heavy items to players with strength upgrades

Phase 3: Extract (Remaining time)

  • Grab items in priority order
  • Move as a group toward extraction
  • Drop low-value items if chased by monsters
  • Never go back for dropped items - the risk isn't worth it

FAQ

Do locations change between runs? Yes, the layout stays the same but loot spawns and monster patrol routes are randomized.

Which location is best for beginners? Headman Manor is the most forgiving with its tight spaces (easier to break line of sight) and moderate loot density.

Can you choose your location? Yes, at the truck between runs you can select which location to visit next.

Are there secret rooms? Yes, especially in Headman Manor and Swiftbroom Academy. Look for breakable walls and suspiciously empty-looking areas on the map.

Summary

Start with Headman Manor to learn the basics, then move to McJannek Station for better loot. Once your team is coordinated, tackle the Museum of Human Art for the biggest paydays. Always scout before committing to a route, and never let greed override survival instincts.
