R.E.P.O. Store Strategy Guide: Optimal Purchase Priority

The Service Station in R.E.P.O. is where you convert extraction earnings into permanent power. Understanding upgrade priorities, reroll mechanics, and economy management is essential for long-term progression.

Upgrade Pricing Mechanics

All upgrades follow this formula: Base Price × (1 + 0.5 × TimesPurchased) × (1 - 0.1 × (PlayerCount - 1))

Key Implications:

  • Each time you buy an upgrade, its price increases by 50%
  • Multiplayer teams get discounts (up to 50% off with 6 players)
  • Early purchases are significantly cheaper than late purchases

Strategy: Buy upgrades you need as early as possible. Delaying purchases costs more in the long run.

Upgrade Priority Tiers

Tier 1: Essential (Buy First)

Upgrade Price Why Essential
Health Upgrade $4K-$5K Survive one-shot kills from danger level 3 monsters
Stamina Upgrade $2K Carry items longer, sprint farther, tumble more
Strength Upgrade $5K-$8K Grab heavier items, lift stunned monsters
Sprint Speed $5K-$8K Escape monsters, traverse maps faster

Order: Health → Stamina → Strength → Sprint Speed (first copy of each)

Tier 2: Quality of Life (Buy Next)

Upgrade Price Benefit
Range Upgrade $5K-$8K Grab items from safer distances
Tumble Launch $4K-$5K Mobility and emergency monster knockdown
Crouch Rest $5K-$8K Faster stamina recovery while hiding
Map Player Count $8K-$12K See team status at a glance (multiplayer)

Tier 3: Advanced Mobility (Buy After Tier 2)

Upgrade Price Use Case
Extra Jump $8K-$12K Reach high items, cross gaps
Tumble Wings $8K-$12K Glide across pits, slow descents
Tumble Climb $8K-$12K Climb walls and vertical surfaces
Death Head Battery $5K-$8K More time to revive dead teammates

Tier 4: Luxury (Buy When Rich)

Upgrade Price Luxury Factor
Zero Gravity Drone $22K-$30K Float items and players
Indestructible Drone $22K-$30K Protect high-value items
Defibrillator $38K-$48K Emergency revives (team only)
Hauler Vehicle $38K-$48K Bulk transport

Reroll Strategy

The reroll machine lets you refresh the shop's upgrade selection.

Reroll Costs

  • First reroll: $5,000
  • Each subsequent reroll: +$5,000
  • Reroll button can randomly break (repairs at next station)
  • Each station allows 1-3 rerolls before breaking

When to Reroll

  • Always reroll if the shop has no Tier 1 upgrades you need
  • Consider rerolling if you're missing a specific Tier 2 upgrade
  • Never reroll just for Tier 3-4 items early in a run

The "Upgrade Pool Control" Strategy

The shop draws from a pool of available upgrades. You can manipulate this pool:

  1. Buy and store (but don't use) upgrades you DON'T need
  2. This removes them from the shop pool
  3. The next reroll is more likely to show upgrades you DO need

Example Control Setup:

  • Buy all 4 Stamina Upgrades, 3 Range Upgrades, 1 Death Head Battery, 1 Map Player Count, 1 Tumble Climb
  • Total: 10 items removed from pool
  • Shop shows 10 items at a time
  • Remaining pool: Your desired upgrades + others
  • This significantly increases the chance of seeing Strength, Health, Sprint Speed, and Extra Jump

Warning: This costs money. Only use this strategy when you have excess funds.

Medical Purchase Priority

Item Price Priority Notes
Small Health Pack $3K-$6K High 25 HP, cheap, carry 1-2
Medium Health Pack $5K-$11K Medium 50 HP, good for Fighter
Large Health Pack $9K-$21K Low 100 HP, expensive, situational

Solo: Buy Small Health Packs only. You're better off investing in upgrades. Team: Support player should carry 1 Medium + 1 Small.

Weapon Purchase Priority

Weapon Price DPS Stun Priority
Boltzap $14K-$18K Low 1.5s Highest - Best value stun
Prodzap $22K-$30K Low All High - Reliable universal stun
Tranq Gun $14K-$18K 0 18s High - Longest stun in game
Sword $18K-$20K 50 Light Medium - Good damage
Gun $18K-$20K 80 Medium Medium - Versatile
Baseball Bat $38K-$48K 20 All Medium - Knockback king
Sledge Hammer $38K-$48K 150 Heavy Low - Expensive, slow
Shotgun $38K-$48K 300 All Low - High damage, short range

Starter Loadout: Boltzap + Prodzap + 2 Stun Grenades = ~$32K-$40K Fighter Loadout: Baseball Bat + Shotgun + Tranq Gun = ~$76K-$94K

Drone Purchase Order

  1. Roll Drone ($8K-$12K) - Buy first, most versatile
  2. Recharge Drone ($14K-$18K) - If you use rechargeable weapons regularly
  3. Feather Drone ($14K-$18K) - Solo players or heavy item teams
  4. Indestructible Drone ($22K-$30K) - When you start seeing $20K+ items
  5. Zero Gravity Drone ($22K-$30K) - Late-game luxury

Energy Crystal Management

  • Each crystal provides 5 energy cells (1 full item charge)
  • Max 10 crystals in inventory (50 cells total)
  • Price decreases with more players (but increases after each purchase)
  • Strategy: Buy crystals when you have 3+ rechargeable items. Otherwise, manual recharge at the truck is fine.

Between-Level Economy

The 50/30/20 Rule

  • 50% on upgrades (permanent power)
  • 30% on weapons/tools (immediate utility)
  • 20% saved for emergencies (medical, rerolls, unexpected needs)

When to Save vs. Spend

  • Save if you're close to affording a game-changing purchase (Defibrillator, Hauler, key drone)
  • Spend if you're below $10K and struggling with current levels
  • Always spend before the final level of a session (no benefit to unspent money)

Shop Secret Items

Each Service Station has a secret room containing unique items not available in the main shop:

Item Effect Why It Matters
Duck Bucket Slows monsters, portable hiding spot Unique utility
Human Grenade Explodes on throw, damages everything Area damage
Duct Taped Grenade Throws 4 grenades at once Highest burst damage

Secret room locations vary by station. Explore thoroughly!

Smart shopping in R.E.P.O. is the difference between a struggling team and an unstoppable extraction machine. Plan your purchases, control the upgrade pool, and always invest in permanent power first.
