R.E.P.O. C.A.R.T. & Vehicle Guide: Transport Mastery

Transportation and item management are core to R.E.P.O.'s gameplay. Understanding the C.A.R.T. system, vehicles, and movement upgrades will dramatically improve your extraction efficiency.

C.A.R.T. System

Standard C.A.R.T. (Free, 4 Max)

  • Large container that can be pushed/pulled
  • Items inside are protected from monster damage
  • Critical: Items placed inside cannot be removed except through extraction
  • Each run starts with 1 free C.A.R.T.
  • Can hold multiple items regardless of total value

Pocket C.A.R.T. ($14,000-$18,000, 2 Max)

  • Small enough to fit in your inventory
  • Reduced capacity compared to standard C.A.R.T.
  • Useful for carrying a portable safe container

C.A.R.T. Strategy

  • Pre-positioning: Place C.A.R.T.s near high-value item spawns before collecting
  • Monster Shield: C.A.R.T.s block monster movement. Use them to create barriers in narrow hallways
  • Safety Deposit: Drop valuables into C.A.R.T. immediately to protect them from traps and monsters
  • Extraction Prep: Load C.A.R.T. and push it to extraction points for efficient bulk depositing

Scout Vehicle ($19,000-$20,000)

Stats

  • Small, fast, cheap vehicle
  • Primary use: high-speed cruising
  • Can slide, drift, and ram monsters for damage/kills
  • No storage capacity

Best Uses

  • Monster clearing: Ram smaller monsters to kill them instantly
  • Rapid scouting: Quickly check multiple rooms for valuables
  • Emergency extraction: Fast transport back to the truck when final extraction triggers
  • Distraction: Drive near monsters to draw them away from your team

Combat Ramming

  • The Scout deals significant damage when ramming monsters
  • Effective against danger level 1 and some level 2 monsters
  • Avoid ramming danger level 3 monsters unless you have a clear escape route
  • Ramming does NOT damage the Scout (vehicles are indestructible)

Hauler Vehicle ($38,000-$48,000)

Stats

  • Scout upgrade with rear storage compartment
  • Maximum storage capacity: $20,000 worth of small valuables
  • Higher durability but slower top speed
  • Larger body makes navigation tighter in small spaces

Best Uses

  • Item transport: Load the rear compartment and drive to extraction points
  • Bulk extraction: Ideal for levels with many small and medium items
  • Team support: One player drives the Hauler while others protect it

Limitations

  • Items in the Hauler cannot be removed until extraction
  • The $20,000 capacity sounds large but fills quickly with medium+ items
  • Slower speed makes it vulnerable to monster attacks while driving

Movement Upgrades

Sprint Speed Upgrade ($5,000-$8,000)

  • Increases sprint speed by 20%
  • Essential for all playstyles
  • Max 3 upgrades

Extra Jump Upgrade ($8,000-$12,000)

  • Adds an additional mid-air jump
  • Only 1 allowed
  • Combine with Tumble Wings for maximum aerial mobility

Tumble Wings Upgrade ($8,000-$12,000)

  • Gliding ability when tumbling in air
  • Only 1 allowed
  • Enables crossing large gaps and reaching high areas

Tumble Climb Upgrade ($8,000-$12,000)

  • Can climb surfaces while tumbling
  • Only 1 allowed
  • Consumes stamina while climbing

Tumble Launch Upgrade ($4,000-$5,000)

  • Increases tumble launch distance and speed
  • Only 1 allowed
  • Excellent for mobility and knocking down small monsters (costs 5 HP)

Transport Synergy Combos

"The Mobile Fortress"

  • Hauler + Scout team: Hauler carries items while Scout clears monsters ahead
  • Assign your fastest player to the Scout and your most careful to the Hauler

"The Aerial Transporter"

  • Extra Jump + Tumble Wings + Feather Drone: Carry heavy items while maintaining full aerial mobility
  • Solo players can use this to extract items from upper floors without stairs

"The Speed Demon"

  • Sprint Speed x3 + Scout Vehicle: Cross any map in seconds
  • Ideal for the player scouting valuables and marking them on the map

Pro Transport Tips

  1. C.A.R.T. Placement: Never leave C.A.R.T.s in narrow hallways where monsters can get stuck attacking them
  2. Vehicle Parking: Park vehicles near extraction points before the final activation
  3. Inventory Management: Use Pocket C.A.R.T. for your most valuable single item as a backup
  4. Fall Damage: Vehicles and players inside them are immune to all damage, including falls
  5. Noise Management: Vehicles make noise when driving, which can attract monsters

Mastering transport systems in R.E.P.O. is the difference between a chaotic scramble and a clean, profitable extraction.
