R.E.P.O. Loot Priority Guide

Not all loot is created equal. This guide breaks down every valuable in R.E.P.O. by value, weight, and value-per-weight ratio, so you can make smart decisions about what to grab and what to leave behind.

Understanding Value vs. Weight

The most important metric in R.E.P.O. is Value per Weight (VpW). An item that weighs 1 unit and is worth $5,000 is better than an item that weighs 5 units and is worth $10,000.

Metric Formula Why It Matters
Value per Weight Value ÷ Weight Higher is better - you can carry more total value
Carry Speed Base speed - (Weight × slowdown factor) Heavy items slow you down, making you vulnerable
Extraction Time Weight ÷ extraction speed Heavier items take longer to extract

Loot Tier List (S-Tier to D-Tier)

S-Tier (Grab Immediately, Solo-Friendly)

Item Value Weight VpW Notes
Diamond $8,000 0.5 16,000 Best item in the game. Always grab.
Gold Bar $5,000 0.5 10,000 Excellent for its weight
Ruby $6,000 0.5 12,000 Small, high value, easy to carry
Jewelry Box $7,000 1.0 7,000 Multiple items inside
Rare Coin $4,000 0.2 20,000 Insane VpW but rare

Strategy: These are your primary targets. A solo player can carry 2-3 of these and still sprint effectively.

A-Tier (High Priority, Team or Fast Solo)

Item Value Weight VpW Notes
Painting $5,000 2.0 2,500 Good value but slows you down
Jewelry Set $6,000 1.5 4,000 Multiple pieces, good for team
Antique Clock $4,500 1.0 4,500 Excellent VpW, grab if you see it
Silverware $3,000 0.5 6,000 Great for filling inventory slots
Rare Book $3,500 0.8 4,375 Swiftbroom Academy specialty
Electronic Tablet $4,000 1.0 4,000 McJannek Station specialty

Strategy: Prioritize these when S-tier isn't available. Good for teams where one player can handle medium weight.

B-Tier (Moderate Priority, Good for Teams)

Item Value Weight VpW Notes
Sculpture (Small) $4,000 3.0 1,333 Requires strength upgrades for solo
Crystal Vase $3,500 2.0 1,750 Fragile - drops reduce value
Vintage Radio $2,500 1.0 2,500 Moderate value, easy carry
Figurine $2,000 0.5 4,000 Good filler item
Decorative Plate $2,500 0.8 3,125 Museum specialty
Magic Wand $3,000 1.2 2,500 Swiftbroom Academy specialty

Strategy: Good for filling out your haul after grabbing S and A tier items. Don't make these your primary targets.

C-Tier (Low Priority, Only If Convenient)

Item Value Weight VpW Notes
Sculpture (Medium) $6,000 5.0 1,200 Heavy, requires team
Piano $8,000 8.0 1,000 Very heavy, need 2-3 players
Large Painting $7,000 6.0 1,167 Heavy but high value
Bronze Statue $5,000 4.0 1,250 Moderate value, heavy
Suit of Armor $6,000 7.0 857 Extremely heavy, team only

Strategy: Only grab these if you have the strength and a clear path to extraction. The risk often isn't worth the reward.

D-Tier (Skip Unless Desperate)

Item Value Weight VpW Notes
Common Books $500 1.0 500 Too low value
Wooden Toys $300 0.5 600 Not worth the inventory slot
Kitchenware $400 1.0 400 Skip unless it's the only thing left
Old Clothes $200 0.8 250 Never worth it
Trash Items $100-200 0.3-0.5 200-400 Literally not worth carrying

Strategy: Skip these entirely. Your time is better spent finding better items or extracting what you already have.

The Solo Player's Loot Strategy

Rule 1: Small and Expensive Only

As a solo player, you should almost exclusively target S-tier and A-tier items. Your carry capacity is limited, so every slot must count.

Rule 2: The "One Medium" Exception

If you have a Strength +2 upgrade, you can carry ONE B-tier medium item per run. Make it count - grab the highest value one you can find.

Rule 3: Inventory Maximization

With Inventory +2, you can carry 4 small items. That's potentially $20,000+ in small S-tier items alone. Prioritize inventory upgrades for solo play.

Rule 4: The 5-Minute Rule

If you haven't found an S-tier item in 5 minutes, grab the best A-tier items available and extract. Don't waste time searching for the perfect item.

Team Loot Strategy: The "Bucket" Method

For teams, divide the loot into "buckets" based on who should carry what:

Player Role Target Items Max Weight Strategy
Scout S-tier small items 1.5 total Grab and run to extraction
Muscle 1 A-tier medium items 5.0 total Heavy lifter, slow but valuable
Muscle 2 B-tier large items 6.0 total Even heavier, needs protection
Support Mixed items + C.A.R.T. 3.0 personal C.A.R.T. carries the rest
Rear Guard Small items 1.0 total Can drop items to help others

The Trap Item Warning

Some items are actually trap items that trigger noise or attract monsters when grabbed or moved:

Trap Item Trigger Effect How to Identify
Music Box Grabbed Plays music, attracts The Stalker Looks like a normal music box but has a red glow
Radio Moved Plays static, attracts nearby monsters Has a faint buzzing sound
Clown Doll Grabbed Laughs loudly, attracts all monsters in range Unmistakable clown face
Broken Clock Grabbed Ticking sound, attracts The Stalker Ticks audibly even before grabbing

Important: Trap items are still worth money if you extract them safely. But grab them last and extract immediately.

Looting Speed Optimization

The "Grab-and-Go" Technique

Don't stand still while grabbing items. You can:

  1. Run toward an item
  2. Grab it mid-run (don't stop)
  3. Continue running toward your next destination or extraction

This reduces your vulnerable time by about 30%.

The "Drop-Pickup" Glitch (Not Recommended)

Some players report that dropping and immediately re-grabbing an item resets its physics, making it easier to carry. This is inconsistent and may be patched. Use at your own risk.

FAQ

What's the highest value possible in a single run? Theoretical maximum is around $80,000-$100,000 in a perfect 6-player team run in the Museum. Realistically, teams average $30,000-$50,000.

Should I grab trap items? Yes, but only if you're near extraction and can extract immediately. The $2,000-$4,000 value is worth it if the timing is right.

Do items lose value if damaged? Yes, dropping items from height or hitting them against walls reduces their value by 10-50%. Be careful with fragile items like Crystal Vases.

What's the best item for a solo beginner? The Antique Clock or Rare Book. Good value, manageable weight, and commonly found.

Can you see an item's value before grabbing it? Yes, the value appears as a floating number above the item when you look at it. This helps you decide whether it's worth the risk.

Summary

Mastering loot priority is the difference between a $5,000 run and a $30,000 run. Focus on S-tier items, grab A-tier when S-tier isn't available, and skip C and D-tier items unless you're desperate. Teams should use the Bucket Method to maximize total extraction value. And always remember: a safely extracted $5,000 item is worth more than a $20,000 item you drop while fleeing from a monster.
